Plasma medicine

Under this name go the frontier processes adopting atmospheric pressure cold plasmas for therapeutic purposes, whose effectiveness is linked to the number of active agents (chemical and physical) produced in plasma and to their controllability and whose mechanisms still require in-depth investigation. Among these processes are: sterilization of infected wounds, treatment of chronic wounds, ulcers and burns, increased coagulation and sterilization of blood, biocompatibilization of surfaces, aesthetic, dental and ophthalmology applications; the selective inactivation of cancer cells and cell regeneration are also under study. AlmaPlasma is developing plasma sources optimized for these purposes and is looking for industrial partners with medium to long-term objectives in the field of advanced medical applications.
